Choosing the right riad
Accessibility matters: how far you carry luggage through the medina lanes, and proximity to the main squares such as Outa El Hammam. Riads of four to seven bedrooms with a rooftop terrace offer the best balance of private and communal space.

Running a guest house: classification is mandatory
To operate a riad as a guest house (maison d’hôtes), a tourism classification issued by the Ministry of Tourism is required. Operating without it is illegal.
